What are some of the most important lessons you've learned in photography?

“Being the ‘best photographer' doesn't necessarily make me successful. Hard work, good business sense, and a passion to serve my clients make me successful. I don't get caught in trends… I'm true to my own style and market to those who love my work. There are no short cuts to success. Becoming successful takes time, intention, and perseverance.”

What are the most valuable lessons you've learned being a business owner?

– Investing in others will always bring more return than you think.

– Don't get into debt “hoping” equipment will make you better.

– Photography is more about running a business than taking pictures.

– Uncle Sam sucks as an uncle.

Who or what has most helped you in the photography/business arena?

“I really haven't had a lot of help with my business other than the school of hard knocks. I've read about 50 books over the years and really worked hard with what I've learned. Apart from attending a workshop held by the amazing Mike Colon and watching some of his videos, I've been on my own.”

What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

“I'm a perfectionist and a realist so my hopes and dreams are pretty grounded I guess… I never want to stop growing, I always want to become better, and I never want to settle for second best. My long term goal/dream is to start a gorgeous venue on a huge piece of land. My hopes are to love life, pursue greatness, and impact many.”
