Sabrina Nohling | Featured Showiteer

Location: Elgin, IL

Years in Business: 4 years shooting and 3rd year in business

Specialty: My focus is weddings and couples. I am a hopeless romantic!

About Sabrina: I have a huge passion for photography but my other passion is helping the elderly. I work full time at an assisted living home and absolutely love it! They are always keeping me laughing and the stories I get to hear are amazing. It is the craziest yet most rewarding job ever. The residents also love my job as a wedding photographer and think I am basically a rockstar.

What advice would you give new photographers? My advice for new photographers would be to start off building a business bigger than yourself. It is so easy to get on a track of having it be all about you and being the biggest and the best. You have been given a gift so use it to serve others and focus on that. Making money is important but I believe in making an impact more. You can have an important impact on clients' lives and you realize that when you take the focus off of yourself. When you give to other people, even through your business, you find so much joy and fullness in life. It is a lesson I am continuing to learn and remind myself! This is another reason Showiteers are so amazing because instead of laughing at this philosophy they fully embrace and encourage it! My other piece of advice that I can't live without is prayer. I pray through every aspect of my business and before every session/wedding and it is seriously what gets me through! It calms my nerves and reminds me exactly where my focus needs to be and God has blessed that so much.

What is a dream that you'd love to make happen? A photography dream would be to photograph a wedding in Ireland. I have never been but the scenery just looks so amazing and that would be so cool! A life dream would be to someday own my own house to care for the elderly. It would be focused on natural health and beneficial activities and have a big front porch where we can sit and share stories. It is a long way off but someday I hope to make it happen!
