5 Beauty Tips of the Month

It's almost summer. The temperature is rising in the desert and that means that wedding season is drawing to a close and kicking off in cooler climates.  As fearless photography females, and well-kept men, sometimes it can be hard to remember to take care of yourself. If the face of your brand needs an about face, here are some tips to keep you looking picture perfect.

Exfoliate Your Lips

Don't you just cringe when you have dry lips?  It makes it extremely hard to wear an awesome shade of lipstick. To ensure that your luscious lips are in perfect condition, the experts at The Beauty Department recommend exfoliating them. To do this, apply lip balm to your lips, then using a toothbrush or clean mascara wand, scrub your lips lightly. Then, use a tissue to wipe away excess flakes. You'll have a perfect pout in no time.

Shave With Conditioner

If you're out of shaving cream, lather your legs with conditioner instead of soap. Conditioner will soften the hair on your legs making it easier to shave (and it will leave your skin feeling extra silky).

De-Puff Your Eyes With Raw Potatoes

In an interview with Reader's Digest, Dr.Frances Jang, a dermatologist at Skinworks recommends using raw potato slices to soothe your eyes. She says they are astringent which means they help decrease water retention and they also contain the enzyme catalase which helps lighten dark under eye circles. First, wash and peel a potato. Cut two slices and place one on each eye for 10 minutes. Lay down, relax and let the potatoes work their magic. Rinse the eye area gently with lukewarm water when you're done.

Moisturize

Moisturizing is so very important.  Most people forget about this small little step and it can do wonders to your face.  It helps you stay looking young and revived.  It will keep it looking radiant and glowing throughout the day.  A great moisturizer I have found is an oil free based one by Neutrogena. Staying hydrated is also a very HUGE part of this process. Make sure to drink plenty of that H20

Lengthen lashes
Give your lashes some extra lovin' with a DIY lash lengthening treatment. The secret ingredient is Castor oil. This natural oil is rich in super-hydrating omega-6 fatty acids, which help moisturize your lashes and prevent breakage. Using a clean spoolie, gently brush the castor oil through your lashes each night. In the morning, just rinse with warm water and wash your face as usual. You should notice healthier lashes in just a few weeks!
