Being a designer with a creative business can be hard. But also so very rewarding! Having always been a creative kid, it was highly likely that Roselyn Carr of Birdesign The Market, and new Showit Design Partner would pursue a career in the arts. Combining her love of crafts and fine arts art, her designs have a unique handmade feel to them. With a background in photography, the layouts and design aesthetic of web design appeals to Roselyn unlike other mediums.

Years in Business as a Creative Designer?

10

When did you first feel the creative itch? As a child, or later in life?

I've loved painting, creating, and designing all my life. Drawing, painting, and doing crafts has always been part of my life. Over the years I've tried different techniques which I love.

Was this your original career path or has the road to creative entrepreneurship been a winding one?

I studied photography, then I realized I love designing more than taking pictures. I love the fact that I've been able to combine design with photography merging the two of them in each project, whether a card template, album, and now with websites.

What's something you wished you had learned sooner?

Money management. Being a digital creator has huge potential and knowing where to invest your revenue is a basic skill, so you can still grow your business.

What's something you are still learning?

In design you're always learning, techniques, new platforms, marketing techniques, new trends. Learning is always part of the process and I love it!

How does social media play a role in your business? Have you set social media schedules and/or limits for your business? If so, why are they working or not?

Connecting with your clients on social media is essential for the business. However being present out there requires a lot of work, I'd love to invest more time on it, but I always ended up creating content and products instead. I'd love to be present, but also I understand that social media it's not for everybody.

When creating a business, most people focus on ___A___,when it’s more helpful to focus on ___B___

If you had all the money in the world to spend on one piece of art, what would you buy?
